Anyone out there using the Greven rosette cutter? The one from LMI...I have one and really like it, but I'd like to cut out the soundhole with it too...problem is, it doesn't adjust in enough to get 4" diameter...LMI's catalog says it will, but unless I change the setscrews with some hardware store ones I can't see it happening...am I missing something obvious? TIA.

Hi Larry,
I use the Greven rosette cutter but I don't use it to cut out the sound hole. I like to do the inlay then pass it through the performax to rough level it,then I use finer sandpaper on a block to clean it up more then a fly cutter by hand to cut out the sound hole.

Hi Larry, i use one...its an older one however.

Mine has two slots for cutters and spacers. If you look closely at it you`ll notice that one slot is closer to the center post than the other. One side is is 2" radiused from center and the other side is 1 1/2" radiused from center.

i use the short side for my soundhole cut out blade and spacers, it will allow me to go down to 3" diameter soundhole.

sorry if this is bogus info, I am not sure if the newer cutters are made the same.

I do know that they improved the spacers and blades about a day after I bought my older one with the rosewood spacers....go figure.

Larry, I too have one. It sits in a drawer and collects dust as I don't do rosettes. On the couple of guitars I did them on, I used it to cut the soundhole as well so maybe mine is similar to Matt's. (though it does have AL spacers) I can take some measurements if you need me to.
I wouldn't hesitate to replace any of the hardware either. You have to make the tool work for you. The stores make it work for the masses.
Let me know if you need any more info about mine. Paul
